PANJIM: The Indian market for soaps, detergents and cosmetics is currently experiencing a slowdown even though the market is currently growing at 11 %. Nadir Godrej, Chairman Godrej Agrovet Ltd and MD, Godrej Industries Ltd revealed this during the course of his interaction with the Herald. He expressed the hope that given the changing business sentiments in the country this would increase to 18% in the next six to eight months.
He is in Goa on the occasion of the 4th International Conference on Soaps, Detergents and Cosmetics being held in the state. ISDC is the premier showcase for all that is happening in the world of soaps, detergents and cosmetics. The conference provides an excellent opportunity for national and International players in the industry to network and share views and resources. The Rs 200,000 crore HPC market has witnessed steady growth and speakers hoped that positive initiatives by the policy makers can ensure a higher growth over the next few years. Success of Make in India will very much depend on correction of this policy anomaly”.
