After a disappointing start to the Indian Super League 2016,
Coach Zico and the FC Goa boys seem to have found the formula
for success with their very first win in the tournament in an
away game against Mumbai FC. There was no breach in both
the defences in the first half an hour of the game. In fact, both
teams played a safe game and didn’t create many opportunities.
However, it all changed with a beautiful run followed by both
feet off the ground to strike a volley into the roof of the net as
Richarlyson Felisbino and Julio Cesar sealed the win for the Gaurs
in the 41st minute.
After three losses, one draw and this win, the points won mean
a lot to the fans as the win was much needed to infuse hope.
Many FC Goa fans have stated that the fluency in midfield is amiss
as Leo Moura and Jonathan Lucca are no longer a part of the
team but with there being a significant difference from the initial
sluggishness of the team, it seems like team FC Goa can play like
a cohesive unit. Fans expect a better display of football prowess
from upfront as the likes of Robin Singh and Julio Cesar can create
great goal scoring opportunities.
The next two matches are crucial to the campaign and will be
held on home soil. Goans look forward to the team continuing
with back-to-back wins so that they can score more points and
make it to the playoffs.
