Life is full of choices, like for example: which job you should take, what type of clothes you should wear, what type of friends you should hang out with, or whom you should marry, or whether to remain single. For some the choice of action may be to tear people apart with crab-mentality or to bring people together in love and peace.
God has given us free will. Everyone is free to choose between right and wrong. Men of wisdom know, that choices determine the course of their future lives. As what may be right for their friend may be disastrous for them and their family. Besides, on the last judgment day, all will be judged according to their works. (Revelation 20:11, 12).Therefore, we should think carefully before making a decisive choice.

Some people are unable to choose between two attractive choices. Sometimes, we are in a situation where we have difficulties in making up our mind, as much depends on our decision. They are like the famous hypothetical Buridan’s ass; named after the 14th century French philosopher Jean Buridan: where a donkey was placed in the middle of two identical heaps of hay; both of which appeared to be delicious. The ass was unable to choose: which of the two, to eat from: as a result, this indecisive beast, died of hunger.
Some people also feels like this typical ass when faced with two options. Yes, the donkey could not make the choice and therefore died of starvation. But people should not allow such a situation to continue. It is good to decide between two choices: for it is said: “No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. One cannot serve two masters.” (Mt.6:24).
But then again the thoughts of your choice should not be swayed by rage. It should be based on sense and sensibility, your reasonableness and simple decision, what is really needed and useful to you in the future. So, with reasonableness, your choice should be based on the right path, free from the shadows of erroneous beliefs, far, far away ‘from the false music which arouses you, and swells your heart to choose the wrong path,’ misleading ideas of people who ‘look like innocent flowers but are serpents beneath.’
I remember the sensible conclusion of Solomon’s judgment which has relevance in the context of choice in the dispute that had arisen between two women, each claiming to be the mother of the child that was taken away from them by the local welfare authorities. Solomon settled the dispute between these two women by deciding the infant to be cut in half and given one half to each of the women. One of the women agreed, while the other pleaded that instead of cutting the child in two halves, she choose to give up her right of claiming the child; for she wanted the child to live instead of death. Solomon gave the child to her as she showed true motherly love.
Your choice should decide not only happiness in this world in future, but also in the place of eternity where Jesus promised, “to prepare a place for you… where I am there you may be also,” (John 14:2).
