We humans with a structural foundation of 206 bones and 230 movable joints and 160,000 kilometres of vessels that feed blood, oxygen and nutrients to the 650 muscles that enable movement, are an incredible creation. With 150,000 kilometres of nerves, pair of eyes which are capable of distinguishing more than 10 million colours, a nose that can remember more than 50,000 scents and to top it all the three-pound organ called brain (that if it were a computer, could perform 38,000 trillion operations per second), yes we are a marvelous creation by the almighty.
Seventy-thousand thoughts are bouncing through our mind each and every day. Over time, these thoughts will come to define every aspect of us who we become, what we pursue and what we avoid.
Thoughts define every aspect of individual life. Why thoughts are so powerful?
There are two aspects of mind that play critical role in anybody’s success. Understanding how they work, and most importantly how to leverage them, will make an incredible difference in the life we build for ourselves.
First is our conscious mind, where we live every waking hour. It is in our conscious mind that we make decisions, hundreds upon hundreds of every day. In our conscious mind we decide what we want to do. Yet far more importantly, we have to decide what we want to think.
The second aspect of our mind is responsible for developing and executing upon the direction given by our conscious mind. It’s called our subconscious mind. Subconscious mind doesn’t work independently, it is ruled, governed and solely directed based upon our conscious thoughts.
So if we are consistently thinking about something, focusing on it, reflecting upon it, our subconscious mind has no choice but to lock on to that thought and figures out a way to manifest that thought into reality.
Remember the words of Buddha, “What you think, you become.”
This is true regardless of whether we are thinking positive thoughts or negative ones. We have within us the power to manifest either into reality.
So here is perhaps the most important question: Are we thinking right?
Are we thinking positively and consistently every day? (Or) Are we inadvertently allowing the negative thoughts to become dominant in our mind?
In life, we don’t get what we deserve; more often, we get what we expect. We get what we think about most often. Positive or negative, our expectations, our thoughts, influence our actions and our actions dictate our life.
We have within us, far more power than we give ourselves credit for. We have within us everything we need to succeed. Let us focus our thoughts repeatedly on what we want instead of what we don’t want. We have power within to script our life. It all starts with thinking right.
