The world has been witnessing a very unhealthy trend of uneasiness which we cannot ignore. The rise of the ugly face of ISIS in the West Asian regions should be of great concern to the rest of the world. The reported mass brutal killings of innocent civilians by the ISIS militants in and around Iraq-Syria-Libya and Egypt have forced the world powers to rejig their strategies. It is a no win situation at the present, though more Gulf countries are joining the anti-ISIS forces. But the most intriguing question is: From where does the ISIS get its ammunition? Who supplies them with the lethal weapons to pound city after city? Each day are reported the chilling actions of these militants killing innocent people at will in the most inhumane fashion. Has anyone asked where do the weapons come from?
The hijacking of religion and infusing radicalism into the tender minds of innocent gullible youth has been the order of the day. Children who were supposed to be in the classrooms are today on the battlefronts waging war against their brethren. How horrific the plight of the families who are traumatized and brutalized with these new radical militants. How long will the world be a witness to such a crime on humanity? Why did their religious heads fail to rein in these men? How can they behave the way they do and go on a killing spree?
The heads of states which were supposed to honor and protect their citizens are today left helpless and are at the mercy of foreign forces to protect themselves from the advances of the ISIS.
Could it be that the way democracy was forced upon these states is a reason for so much turmoil in the West Asia region? Were these states ready to accept democracy as practiced by the rest of the world? Or did these states deserve only such tough rulers like the former Iraqi ruler Sadam Hussein?
India cannot ignore its immediate neighbour Pakistan which is allegedly harbouring such rogue militants. Be it Taliban or the ISIS, the world is at its worst threshold.
