The blame for the current controversy is shifted on to the order of S.C. Some are of the opinion that judicial activism is unnecessary .The same SC has once again directed the National Government to have a rethink of its earlier order. The politicians find an escape route for their hidden agenda. Is standing up for National anthem under compulsion guarantees patriotism per se? Imposed diktats lead to revulsion and defiance. People go to cinema for entertainment and not to express solidarity with Nation or demonstrate Nationalism, patriotism. It was introduced after Chinese war and then discontinued. At times of external war , natural calamities citizens automatically rise up to display National spirit, without being suggested or commanded. Some disabled person have been targeted by vigilantes for disobeying this rule. Enforcement is a problem. The argument that we can stand for hours to watch entertainment, obtain other services cannot be transferred for standing for National anthem by force as a justification. Respect and honour should come naturally. Is it really necessary to play National anthem in cinemas before the start of movie? Can those that are disagreeable stand outside till it is over? Is it only about standing and remaining silent without singing the National anthem ? It must be played on solemn occasions and in restricted manner in restricted venues, so that defiance is not built in, School children sing it daily over years and is that not enough to infuse, inculcate National pride and reverence. It is said that children merely stand up respectfully and may not be obliged to sing, which is another controversy. Should we also stand up when watching on TV Republic day parade , Independence day and stand up in our drawing rooms when National anthem is played or is it only mandatory in public that we must be seen demonstrating respect to National anthem or National flag, symbols of National pride. The use of National flag has undergone sea of change in attitude as well as its use. That many celebrities endorse this fact does not justify compulsion of standing in cinema houses. There is no need to constantly test patriotism and National pride and wear it on our sleeves. It is best to do away with this controversy by not making playing it in Cinema houses either before or after the show.
