PANJIM: The Office of the Labour and Employment has received an overwhelming response from employers and job seekers for the Mega Job fair that is to be held on Tuesday and Wednesday. The Employment Commissioner’s office has received over 14,000 entries of job seekers and almost 150 employers including overseas companies from Australia.
Mega Job Fair 2022 which was earlier scheduled to be held on November 8 has been extended to November 9 due to the unprecedented demand. The fair will be held from 9 am to 5 pm at Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium, Taleigao.
“Looking at the huge response and to cater to it without chaos, the job fair has been extended for one more day. The Employment Commission has also started with sending messages to the applicants and bifurcate them into slots during the two days of the fair,” informed Employment Commissioner Raju Gawas.
Goa has almost 1.4 lakh persons registered with the employment exchange. Out of these 19,383 employed and 12,907 are unemployed in the records of the Employment Exchange Labour Office.
The Commissioner informed that they have requested some of the companies to give offer letters to eligible candidates on the same day. “There are 5,500 vacancies with the registered employers which they wish to fill through the Mega job fair,” said Gawas.
He further added, “There are international cruise liners like Carnival cruises who will participate at the job fair. There are several starred hotels that have also participated under hospitality sector.”
