PANJIM: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar condoled the death of legendary classical singer Kishori Amonkar.
The Padma Vibhushan recipient passed away at the age of 84 at her house in Mumbai on Monday evening. One of the finest vocalists, she had been ailing for a while.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi too expressed his grief on Twitter. “Demise of Kishori Amonkar is an irreparable loss to Indian classical music. Deeply pained by her demise. May her soul rest in peace,” he tweeted.
In his tweet, BJP MLA Michael Lobo said, “Your music will always keep you alive amongst us.”
