VASCO: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Wednesday said he has served two-month ultimatum to the government employees from Mormugao taluka to clear the workload pending due to the COVID pandemic.
He was addressing media persons after holding a closed-door special review meeting with officials of the several departments at the Ravindra Bhavan, Baina on Wednesday. The meet lasted for two hours.

Sawant said he interacted with Mormugao Municipal Council chairperson, councillors, Deputy Collector, Mamlatdar, officials from the Land & Survey, Electricity, PWD, Civil Registrar, Director of Transport and Deputy Superintendent of Police of Mormugao taluka and the MMC Chief Officer and reviewed the pending works. The revenue of these departments was also discussed.
The Chief Minister said Mormugao Deputy Collector explained to him about the COVID19 management in the Mormugao taluka in detail.
He informed that the departments have been given a target of two months to clear pending works.
Sawant assured to hold another review meeting within three months to take stock of the situation with regards to the several pending developmental projects.
Extending Chaturthi wishes to the people of Mormugao festival, the Chief Minister urged them to be cautious and take precautions against COVID.
On the resumption of mining and the shortage of staff in MMC, Sawant said efforts are on to convince the Centre to resume mining activities in Goa.
The Chief Minister said, “The MMC staff will be brought back to their positions and if required then the staff of other departments can be taken on COVID duty.”
The Chief Minister said, “The State government will conduct antibody tests to check those eligible for plasma donation, which can be vital to save lives of the critical COVID patients.”
He appreciated the recent plasma donation camps organised at Mangor Hill, wherein some COVID recovered patients donated their plasma.
Sawant called upon people to come forward and donate their blood plasma to save more lives.
The Chief Minister said “A list of eligible persons for plasma donation will be prepared so that their plasma can be stored in the Goa Medical College and Hospital at Bambolim for future use.”
Sawant said, “The government has written to the Ministry of Home Affairs, but there has been no relaxation on the opening of bars.”
