representation to the Crime Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the government
demanding non closure of case in Vasco minor girl rape case.

Addressing
the media, Spokesperson Avinash Tavares said “It has been over 3 years of
investigation and with the evidence they had, the CBI has failed to trace the
accused and now they are filing a closure report to close the case stating the
main accused in untraceable”

“The
government should tell us where they have failed and we demand that the case
should not be closed and in this regard the Congress would be writing a
representation to the Crime Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the government
demanding that they should close the case. Closing the case because the culprit
is untraceable sets a wrong precedent on such crimes” said Tavares

However,
GPCC Spokesperson Swati kerkar stated that in the last 5 years of the BJP
government, harassment of women has increased and especially in educational
institutions there have also been so many such cases of which some are not even
reported.

“The CBI has
failed to trace the culprit in the Vasco minor girl rape case and now after
three of having enough evidence, the authorities have filed a closure report
and we at Congress demand that the case should not be closed” said Kerkar

Kerkar added
that women are not at all safe in Goa and there has been no support from the
government as well as the women commission and with this name of Goa has been
spoilt.

“According
to the Supreme Court order there should be a vishakha committee at each and
every work place but here in Goa these committees are only for namesake and no
action is ever taken. Once our government forms we till take a tough stand” she
said
