PANJIM: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Tuesday assured to investigate the matter related to a death certificate which was issued in a wrong name by Goa Medical College & Hospital.
The issue was brought to the notice of the House by Independent MLA Naresh Sawal during Zero Hour mention. Sawal said that the death and birth certificates in GMC are handwritten with several errors.
The Bicholim MLA citied an example wherein he pointed out that name of one deceased Milind Bhagat was mentioned as Malind Bhagat in the death certificate issued by GMC on April 22, 2013.
He demanded that the birth and death certificate need to be computerized. Assuring to take action, Parrikar said ‘even my birth certificate has a major error, where my birth year is mentioned as 1956, whereas I was born in 1955. “I had to face a major problem when I went for admission in IIT,” he said.
“I will make sure that GMC issues printed death and birth certificates,” he assured.
