PONDA: Art and Culture Minister Govind Gaude on Monday assured that the dekhava contest will be held as per schedule and added that the artists should not mistaken government’s intentions.
He said a total of eight prizes will be awarded however, only seven entries have been received for the competition. “Now, we will wait for five more days to ensure those who failed to submit their entries get a chance to participate,” he said.
He said even if few entries are received there should not be any injustice to artists who through their painstaking efforts had prepared the dekhava.
Meanwhile, artist Sanket Narvekar from Kavlem expressed his happiness over the government’s decision to cancel the contest.
Thanking Herald for taking up the issue, he said the officials of the Art and Culture Department have assured him that they will visit his residence at Kavlem on September 15 to have a look at the dekhava.
It may be recalled that on September 11 the officials from the Art and Culture Department had conveyed a message to artists that the dekhava competition stands cancelled on account of few entries.
