MARGAO: Bob’s Bar and Restaurant in Gogal area of Margao caught fire in the evening and was completely destroyed in the inferno. The fire personnel had to fight more than an hour using two tenders to contain the fire in the restaurant.
The bar and restaurant in the Kurtarkar building is a prominent place in the area.
The reason for the fire couldn’t be established till late evening, but fire personnel suspect that the fire first broke out in the kitchen.
Councillor Tito Cardozo told Herald that restaurants having kitchens in a closed room kitchen is a disadvantage and a danger to the persons residing around. “When we took action and removed such restaurants we were criticized. But now the result can be seen,” he said.
