If the 3 lanes of the Zuari Bridge were to be thrown open to the long-suffering commuting public on Thursday morning and inaugurated during the course of the day, the suffering of the commuting public would have been lessened by a day.
While it may be a question of the day, the suffering of the people has crossed all limits. An additional day of choked jams could mean, more ambulances stuck in traffic unable to reach hospitals in time, more flights missed, more appointments cancelled and more man-hours lost.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, known for his efficiency and time management, himself would have been pleased to lessen the suffering of the people and carry out the formality of inaugurating the bridge, even after it was opened to the public, a short 15-minute inauguration should have been held, during which time traffic would be stopped. The speeches and other cultural programmes could have been held elsewhere. After the inauguration, the Minister could have stepped aside and waited for vehicles to pass and wave out to commuters or thanked them with folded hands for their patience. Such a gesture would make the public even forget and forgive their daily sufferings in jams.
People, especially the sick, senior citizens, and travellers would have saluted the government if, yet another day was not lost in official programmes as people suffered.
