FC Goa’s star defender Sandesh Jhingan and several leading Indian footballers have taken to social media appealing for the revival of the Indian Super League (ISL) and urging action to save Indian football.
Their collective plea comes after the All India Football Federation (AIFF) reportedly failed to attract any bids for the league’s commercial rights for the next 15 years, raising concerns about the future of India’s premier football competition.

In an emotional video shared across his social media platforms, Jhingan said that Indian football has “come a long way” but now finds itself at a standstill affecting fans, players, coaches, and support staff. “With the country’s football ecosystem hanging in limbo, Indian football is bleeding,” the defender said.
Echoing Jhingan’s sentiments, Indian football captain Sunil Chhetri and goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu also expressed concern online, highlighting the uncertainty surrounding the sport’s future in the country.
The players’ unified appeal has sparked a larger conversation among fans, clubs, and stakeholders about the urgent need for stability and reform within India’s football structure to ensure the ISL — and Indian football as a whole — continues to grow.
