IPSCDL clarifies with regards to water flowing out near KA

PANJIM: The Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Ltd (IPSCDL) on Sunday clarified that the water flowing out near Kala Academy, Campal was due to an ongoing work being executed by Public Works Department (PWD) under AMRUT Mission and it does not involve a potable water pipeline.

Reacting to a news item published by O Heraldo, the IPSCDL stated that the work in question pertains to the supply of effluent treated water pipeline to Green Spaces in Panaji. Work is being executed by PWD under AMRUT Mission, and does not involve a potable water pipeline as reported.

“The reported incident was during the hydraulic testing which was conducted, pressurizing the pipeline to seven-kg as standard procedure. It’s important to note that the water used for testing was not drinking water. As a standard practice, after successful testing, the valve was opened to empty the water within the pipeline,” the IPSCDL said.

On Saturday, March 9,  residents of Campal were shocked to find that there was another rapture outside Kala Academy. Thousands of litres of water was wasted as the unfinished work of installing a new water pipeline ruptured a valve. As a result a fountain of water emanated on the footpath all day long. It was reported that there was no supervisor or labourer in the vicinity to deal with the problem.
