The Chinchinim Panchayat on Wednesday razed down a kiosk in the market with the assistance of the demolition squad.
Earthmoving machinery was deployed by the demolition squad in the presence of the police to raze down the structure.
Sarpanch Olwin Antao told newsmen that the Panchayat had identified 13 kiosks in the market area for demolition. “Of the 13 structures, 11 were cleared some months ago, while the owners of two kiosks had obtained stay from the Additional Director of Panchayats”, he said, adding that the demolition was ordered after the Additional Director vacated the stay.
“The owner of the second kiosk has gone in the high court against the order of the Additional director of Panchayat”, he said, adding that the Panchayat would file its reply in the high court.
