MARGAO: Margao and Colva Police arrested five persons for rash and negligent driving under the influence of alcohol.
They were later released on bail. The cases were booked against them under Section 185 of MV Act and Sections 279 and 336 of the IPC.

Colva PI Melson Colaco said the drivers of the three vehicles drove their vehicles in rash and negligent manner.
“Traffic Cell referred these three cases to us and later after conducting investigation the persons were booked,” said PI Colaco.
He said Colva Police have started the drive against the motorists involved in rash and negligent driving under the influence of alcohol. The drive will continue.
Meanwhile, Margao Police arrested two drivers for the same offence.
Police sources revealed that spree of fatal accidents involving private cars in past few months and incidents of reckless driving under the influence of alcohol are slowly rising and efforts are on to reduce accidents.
“Special drives aimed at nabbing motorists who frequently violate traffic rules under the influence of liquor will continue,” Colaco added.
