VASCO: The 49-year-old driver from Banda-Maharashtra, who was arrested on charges of molesting a five-year-old girl at the naval area in Chicalim late Friday night, has been remanded by the Vasco Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) to two days police custody.
According to Vasco PSI Virendra Naik, the incident took place when the accused, Sudesh Parab (49) had been contracted by a company to transport the belongings of a naval officer who was moving out of Goa.
On Friday night, the company sent a truck along with three labourers to the naval officer’s quarters at the Naval Officers Residential Area (NOFRA) in Chicalim.
“While the labourers were busy loading the belongings into the truck, the truck driver noticed a 5-yr-old girl alone in the area and invited her into the truck cabin, where he allegedly molested her,” said PSI Naik.
“The child’s mother, who is working as a maid in the officer’s house, happened to notice her daughter along with the driver in the truck cabin and became suspicious. The child later reported the matter to her mother,” he added.
She raised an alarm and locals caught hold of the truck driver and beat him.
