In a disturbing incident, suspected Naxalites wreaked havoc in Chhattisgarh’s Dantewada district, setting ablaze at least 14 vehicles and machinery involved in construction works. The event unfolded around 1:30 am at Bangali camp under Bhansi police station limits on Monday, with no reported injuries.
Eyewitnesses reported that approximately 40 to 50 individuals, disguised as civilians, some armed, arrived at the location and targeted the parked vehicles and machines. The arson included trucks, poclain, and earth-moving machines. Notably, the affected machinery belonged to a private construction firm engaged in road construction between Dantewada and Bacheli, with a water tanker dedicated to railway works.

Upon receiving the alert, a police team led by the Bhansi station house officer swiftly reached the scene. While no injuries were reported, the incident is currently being treated as the handiwork of Naxalites. A search operation is underway to apprehend the perpetrators responsible for the attack.
The Bastar division, comprising seven districts including Dantewada, has witnessed repeated attempts by Naxalites to disrupt road construction projects. These attacks often involve assaults on security forces and the deliberate damage of roads, vehicles, and machinery associated with the construction efforts.
