MARGAO: Maina-Curtorim police arrested Hamza Bepari from Curtorim under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, following a complaint from a Chennai-based animal welfare officer on Saturday.
Acting on the complaint lodged by Anjali Anand, police raided the 45-year-old Bepari’s residence at Curtorim and recovered a head portion and some bones of an animal.
The bones were not fresh and the animal apparently was slaughtered some days ago, police said. Bepari reportedly told the police that he had got the animal from Goa Meat Complex, but could not provide details, including the receipt for purchase of the animal.
