PANJIM: Government committees headed by Assistant Directors of Mines will begin their work of lease-wise re-verification of ore and preparation of inventory in both the districts from Friday. The committee has been asked to submit the preliminary its report by December 15.
Directorate of Mines and Geology on November 25, constituted two committees headed by Assistant directors Parag Nagarcekar for South and Manuel Barreto for North Goa. Following Supreme Court order to allow e-auction of unused extracted iron ore lying in the state, the department with permission from the apex court constituted teams for re-verification of ore and inventory of the stock.
As per the order, the detail of the stock at the lease has to be collected from the respective lease holders. The inventory would start from port, followed by jetties, stockyards, the beneficiation plants situated outside lease area and then the ore at the lease site.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court appointed three member monitoring committee set up to verify the unused iron ore lying in the State and e-auction the same, is yet to have any official communication with government about their arrival in Goa.
Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar had earlier expressed possibility of beginning e-auction process by January, next year. According to government record, state has around 15.27 million tones of extracted ore.
