PANJIM: The copies of the judgement on disqualification petitions pronounced by the Goa Assembly Speaker Rajesh Patnekar will be given to those who had applied for the same on Thursday morning.
Both the petitioners Congress president Girish Chodankar and MGP legislator Sudin Dhavalikar and the respondents have been asked to collect the certified copies from the Speaker’s office on Thursday. However, both the petitioners will decide their next plan of action only after reading the judgement given by the Speaker.
Chodankar said that he has been asked to collect the copy of the judgement from the Speaker’s office at 10:30 am on Thursday.
It may be recalled that the Speaker dismissed both the disqualification petitions filed by the Congress and the MGP seeking disqualification of 12 rebel MLAs, who joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2019.
Meanwhile, in view of the prevailing COVID-19 situation, the Supreme Court has adjourned all hearings including disqualification petition filed by the Congress and the MGP fixed on Thursday, April 22.
Dhavalikar’s counsel Adv Carlos Alvares Ferreira had already stated that the petition before the Supreme Court had become infructuous after the Speaker pronouncing his order.
