Locals demand that Ponda Police should intensify night patrolling at the isolated spots, roads, and playgrounds in the taluka

PONDA: Ponda, Kavlem, and Khandepar locals on Thursday demanded with Ponda Police to intensify night patrolling at the isolated spots, roads, and playgrounds in the taluka to prevent incidents of the nuisance of lovers, alcohol and drugs parties by ‘outsiders’ in the village areas. 

A local Kisan Naik said, “Police patrolling vehicles just pass from the main road which doesn’t help to control these menace.”

He said, “The menace starts especially after dusk i.e as night start falling after 6.30 to 8.30 pm when lovers or couples from outside the village visit the playground in dark and stay for at least one to two hours causing a nuisance to locals. Similarly, groups of youth hold alcohol and drugs mini parties till midnight ending with breaking bottles.” 

“Recently, one such dump of broken bottles was found near Khandepar bridge road. Since there is no approach road to the bridge at Khandepar, for the past four years, this uneven portion of approach road is used to hold parties and immoral things,” Naik said.
