MARGAO: Residents from several wards in Curtorim have been enduring persistent power outages and voltage fluctuations for the past few months. Some residents have reported damage to their household electrical appliances and are urging the government and the Power Department to address the issues and enhance the power supply.
A group of residents contacted O Heraldo on Tuesday, requesting assistance in bringing their concerns to the government’s attention and seeking resolution. Carmo Azavedo, a local, stated 2that areas like Goddenembhatt, Tembi, and others are experiencing frequent power outages as an ongoing issue.
“Power outages have become a regular problem in the village of Curtorim, with no signs of resolution for several months. Residents have repeatedly contacted officials at the power sub-station to no avail, we are tired of this,” he lamented.
Simon Barretto added that the community is dealing with the hardships of regular power fluctuations. He emphasised that their village is one of the worst affected, with residents pleading for improved power supply but seeing no relief.
Barretto noted that the power failures are causing problems for students during ongoing exams, as they struggle to study due to frequent power interruptions.
The primary concern for residents is the sudden voltage changes and power surges that lead to damage to their household electrical appliances, forcing them to spend on repairing or replacing their pricey appliances.
