“It is doubtful whether the repairs will last even till the end of the National Games given the substandard material used. The amount of tar used is negligible while the gravel utilised is wet, due to the rains,” Babli Raut, former sarpanch of Agarwada-Chopdem panchayat said.

“When contacted, PWD engineers said that the work undertaken is temporary in nature due to the games and the hot-mixing will be done after the sporting event. However, their explanations are not satisfactory,” Raut said.
