PANJIM: BJP ministers, ex-Congressman, and now saffron MLA so also MGP and Independent legislators on Saturday took the opportunity to exhibit their “loyalty” towards the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) by wearing the Sangh uniform at a rally addressed by Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat in Panjim.
Ex-Congress and Independent turned BJP MLAs including Mauvin Godinho, Rohan Khaunte, Digambar Kamat, Sankalp Amonkar, and Viishwajit Rane were in attendance to hear the lecture of the RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat who said that all people living in India share common DNA and hence are Hindus by definition.

“People should understand that because they live in Hindustan, they all are Hindus. We have a common DNA. We might follow different religions, speak different languages, worship different gods, have different cultures…but in the end we all are Hindus,” he said.
Donned in an RSS uniform of brown trousers, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant led his team from the front. There were some BJP Ministers who preferred to wear normal clothes.
Those wearing the uniform were the Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane, Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte, Vasco MLA Daji Salkar, Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar- who had defected from Congress in September last year, MGP MLA Jit Arolkar and Independent MLA Chandrakant Shetye.
Union Minister for State for Tourism Shripad Naik was also seen wearing the uniform.
On the other hand, Power Minister Ramkrishna Dhavalikar, Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho, WRD Minister Subhash Shirodkar, Fisheries Minister Nilkanth Halarnkar, Social Welfare Minister Subhash Phal Desai and Digambar Kamat were seen in normal clothes.
The Sangh had changed to its new uniform formally on Vijayadashami, a few years ago. While over the years there have been minor changes to their attire, this time instead of its trademark khaki shorts RSS opted for brown trousers.
BJP leaders including party president Sadanand Shet Tanavade, BJP general secretary Adv Narendra Sawaikar, and spokesperson Damu Naik were among those seen in uniform.
RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat on Saturday asserted that all people living in India share common DNA and hence are Hindus by definition.
He also said that the RSS is working to awaken and unify the society so that India can emerge as a “model society” and a “super power” for the entire world.
“People should understand that because they live in Hindustan, they all are Hindus. We have a common DNA. We might follow different religions, speak different languages, worship different gods, have different culture…but in the end we all are Hindus,” he said.
