PANJIM: The petition filed by the Goa government praying to restrain Karnataka from going ahead with the construction of bundhs at the Kalasa nullah and to restrain them from diverting water from deficit Mhadei basin to surplus Malaprabha basin will come up for hearing before the Supreme Court on Monday, July 10.
The petition has been listed before Supreme Court Bench comprising Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Justice M M Sundresh.

The Goa government is praying for appropriate directions to restrain Karnataka from diverting waters from the Mhadeiriver basin including from the Kalasa and Bhandura rivulets, without first obtaining the requisite approval under the Wild Life Protection Act, 1972.
The Goa government is also seeking a stay to the construction activities undertaken by the Karnataka at Kalasa-Bhandura project site.
During the last hearing in February, the Court had asked the Karnataka government to provide a copy of the revised Detailed Project Report (DPR) approved by the Central Water Commission (CWC) and the order of the CWC approving the revised DPR.
