Responding to media queries about the announcement by the Union ministry, especially after the controversy with several quarters particularly minority communities criticising the move, Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar said it has nothing to do with any specific religion. “It is not religious but an important part of education. I am, however, yet to examine the matter,” he said.
The ‘Common Yoga Protocol’ released by the AYUSH ministry gives a framework for a 45-minute program on June 21 that includes yoga postures, meditation and chanting. The note was supposed to be circulated to offices, schools and colleges across the country. The ministry was soon to clarify that rules are not compulsory.
