Teenager dies of electrocution

PONDA: Alamgir Rahman, 19, a native of West Bengal and presently residing at Bandora was electrocuted after he came in contact with live wires used at the sewerage treatment plant site at Ponda, on Saturday.

Police stated that Rahman had accompanied another worker to the site to check the progress of the work near the Ponda Municipal Council garden when the unfortunate incident happened.

He was shifted to the Ponda Sub District Hospital where he was declared brought dead by doctors.

This is the second case of death by negligence reported at the STP site. It may be recalled that in May, another worker died of suffocation after he fell in an eight-metre deep sewerage chamber while another was hospitalised. 

Police had then registered offences against the sewerage contractor and officials for negligence.
