PANJIM: In view of the feast of St Francis Xavier to be held on December 3, at Old Goa the District Magistrate, North has ordered the diversion of traffic and parking.
All vehicles from Panjim proceeding to Ponda etc via Old Goa will be diverted from below Mandovi bridge via by-pass (Kadamba Plateau). Those attending seminar, novenas and feast can take the normal road via Ribandar Patto to Bhakia’s property.
On December 3, all route buses will be diverted via NH-4A (Kadamba By-pass) to respective destinations. All vehicles from Ponda to Panjim will be diverted on NH-4A by-pass via Kadamba Plateau on reaching Dargah function at Old Goa.
Those residing in the vicinity of Old Goa Complex, Divar and Gaundalim coming from Ribandar can take left turn near Old Goa main junction and those coming from Corlim can take right turn near Dargah to reach to Divar ferry.
All transport vehicles proceeding from Old Goa to Margao and Vasco will not be allowed through Neura road and instead will be diverted to exit through by-pass road (Kadamba Plateau), thus making Pillar-Neura road ‘One Way’ for movement of traffic from Pillar to Old Goa via Neura Junction. However, small cars and two wheelers will be allowed to move in both directions.
Heavy vehicular traffic passing through Old Goa, Ponda side will be diverted from Usgao Junction/Banastarim Junction towards Bicholim, Mapusa and at Mapusa, diverted at Karaswada junction to proceed via Bicholim. Parking for cars and two wheelers from Panjim side will be in Bakia’s property, behind Se Cathedral, on the Divar Jetty road and St Cajetan Church compound at Old Goa. Vehicles coming from Margao-Vasco via Pilar-Neura will be parked on the Kunkalekar School Ground, Ella Farm, Animal Husbandry Ground and on the road leading to Brahmapuri temple. Cars and two wheelers arriving from Ponda will be parked near Hubbard Chicken Farm, opposite Bhandari Residence, opposite Edmar House, behind Pinto Garage and behind Madkaikar Plaza. Cars belonging to the Church will be parked in their designated parking lot behind Sulabh Sauchalaya. VIP and differently-abled parking will be in the open place of Goa Tourism Development Corporation. The Old Goa Panchayat Ground will be reserved for Panjim–Old Goa buses only.
