A case has been registered against Rodrigues under section 307 of IPC. According to the police, the victim, Agnelo Faria, aged over 40, along with Leo and another friend, used to meet daily for drinks in the verandah of a residential house in Varca. After consuming alcohol, they would leave the place as in good spirits. However, tragedy struck on Saturday afternoon, after one of the friends left early after having drinks, leaving Leo and Agnelo behind.

The two continued drinking and later got into a heated argument over some issue. In a fit of anger, Leo grabbed a sharp weapon and stabbed Agnelo, causing him to bleed profusely all over  the verandah, and lose consciousness. Agnelo was initially taken to the South Goa District Hospital, Margao, and later shifted to GMC.

Colva PI Therron D’Costa said they are currently in the process of interrogating witnesses to determine the motive behind the stabbing.

“The sharp weapon will also be recovered,” he added. A team of fingerprint experts will also visit the crime scene.  The police plan to record the statement of the third friend, in a bid to ascertain the motive behind the attack.
