PANJIM: Aliston Mendes netted a hat-trick as Salgaocar FC narrowly defeated Sporting Clube de Goa, 3-2 in a GFA’s U-18 First Division football league match at Don Bosco ground, Panjim, on Thursday.
Aliston opened the scoring after just 16 minutes for Salgaocar with a neat placement.
Sporting Goa battled superbly and found the equalizer after Toystan Mendonca punted into the Salgaocar goal.
At half time the score was levelled 1-1.
Within seconds of the restart, Salgaocar pushed forward and reclaimed their lead when Aliston intercepted a loose ball and slotted home.
Changing over, neither team looked like scoring until the last two minutes when Aliston managed to complete his hat-trick for Salgaocar.
The story was not over just yet as Bispajit Rajput picked up the ball on the edge of the 18 yard box and blasted into the top corner of the Salgaocar goal to reduce the deficit for the Flaming Oranje.
