RAIA: Ambelim Sports Club edged out Varca Sports Club 1-0 to move into the finals of 1st VJT Cup football at Chinchinim church ground, Sunday. There was no score at half time.
The best opportunity fell to Varca’s Aaron Baretto, who saw his shot being saved by the Ambelim goalkeeper.

The second half was more lively, with both teams pushing for the breakthrough. It finally came in the 40th minute, when Semson Fernandes of Ambelim unleashed a powerful shot from the outside the box. It flew past the Varca goalkeeper and into the top corner. It proved to be the decisive goal, as Ambelim held on to their slender lead till the final whistle.
Aaron Baretto of Varca was named man-of-the match for his impressive performance. He received a special prize from Joe Dias of VJT Arts.
