rnCandolim Sports Club scored a hard fought 2-1 victory over hosts United Club of Nerul to book their place in the finals of 4th Bardez Cup Inter-Village football tournament at Dr. Gustavo Monteiro Stadium, Candolim on Sunday.
rnCandolim began the match on a promising note and surprised Nerul with a goal in the 5th minute through Joelif Simoes off a free kick by Samir. Stung by the reverse, Nerul mounted pressure on the Candolim defense but their forwards failed to find the net.
rnChanging over, Nerul kept attacking the Candolim citadel and found the equaliser through Samir in the 15th minute. With both teams tied 1-1 and the match heading for the tie-breaker, Joelif came up with the match-winner in the dying minutes.
