MARGAO: Cuncolim Union in association with Cuncolim Municipal Council will organize their 1st all-Goa Cuncolim Municipal Council Cup inter-village football tournament from January 10 at Government School play ground, Cuncolim.
Briefing the media, on Tuesday evening, Elvis Gomes, Director of DMA and president of GFA said that the main aim of Cuncolim Municipal council is to provide a platform to footballers to hone their skills and cement their place in big clubs.
He also disclosed that this is the first time in Goa that a Municipal Cup is being held and also said plans are set to rolling to explore possibility of holding the tournament annually. Altogether, top 16 teams are vying for top honours. The winners will pocket Rs 40,000 and a glittering trophy while the runner-up will receive Rs 30,000 and a trophy.
Among those present were Leandry Mascarenhas, chairperson of Cuncolim Municipal Council; Pandirinath Naik, chief officer, CMC; Prakash Dessai, president of Cuncolim Union; Dinesh Naik, sports secretary and Rupak Naik, treasurer.
