MARGAO: Medium pacer Nehal Surlkar’s rich haul of six wickets helped Mahiila Nutan High School, Margao crush North Goa champions Progress High School, Sanquelim by 10 wickets to clinch the state level U-14 Dilip Sardesai inter-school crocket tournament organized by Goa Cricket Association at Porvorim Cricket Academy ground on Monday.
Progress won the toss and elected to bat but their innings collapsed with just 71 runs on the board from 25.4 overs.
Nehal who did most of the damage for Mahila Nutan took 6 wickets, while skipper Suyash Prabhudesai bagged 2 wickets and gave away 10 runs. Saurav Shetgaonkar and Ashwin Phaldesai took a wicket each.
In reply, Mahila Nutan’s opening pair of Suyash Prabhudesai and Shivam Amonkar achieved the target in style without loosing a wicket. Shivam and Suyash remained unbeaten on 36 and 27 runs respectively.
Suyash Prabhudesai who excelled with bat and ball was rightly judged as best batsman and all-rounder of the tournament, while Nehal Surlkar who took 27 wickets in 5 matches was adjudged as best bowler and man of the finals.
