MAPUSA: Nerul Sports Club were held to a 1-1 draw by Youth Club of Colvale in the GFA’s U-16 League match, at Duler ground, here, on Wednesday.
Both the teams had a chance each to take the lead in the first session but their strikers failed to score.
In the 15th minute, a through ball by Colvale’s Nathan was controlled by Irfan but shot wide with just the rival keeper at his mercy.
This time in the 38th minute, Nerul’s Vishal came up with a brilliant solo-effort and on entering the penalty box released the ball to Luis who failed to keep his shot inside the framework.
However, ten minutes into the second session and Nerul surged ahead when a power-packed strike by Ransley Gonsalves rebounded off the crossbar and the ball travelled to Rushab who tapped it into the goal to give his side the lead.
Just two minutes later, Rushab would have doubled the lead but his strike hit the horizontal bar.
YSC Colvale went all out in search of the equaliser and in the 65th minute a 40-yard free kick by Nathan crashed into the back of Nerul goal.
Colvale would have won the match in the 78th minute but Vivek Naik shot hit the crossbar and went out.
Meanwhile at Astro turf ground, Fatorda, SCC Loutolim registered a fluent 11-0 win over United Club of Telaulim.
Deep Paswan scored a double hat-trick netting seven goals while Velito Pereira and Melroy Fernandes netted a brace each. United Club of Telaulim played with 10 boys.
At Dramapur ground, Larson Rebello scored the only goal of the game as CRC Chinchinim registered a narrow 1-0 win over Ave Maria Club Benaulim.
