RAIA: Raia Sporting edged past Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda, 6-5 via tie-breaker to move into the semi-finals of the 1st Antonio Rebelo memorial football tournament organised by Curtorim Gymkhana, at DSYA ground, Curtorim, on Friday.
Raia Sporting scored the first goal through Saniro Pango in the 13th minute. But it didn’t take long for Don Bosco Oratory to equalise. Don Bosco Oratory scored the equaliser through Hanslem Furtado in the 16th minute after receiving a pass from Cliff Barretto.
In the second half, both teams created good moves but could not convert into goals. Raia Sporting goalkeeper Jake Medeira was brilliant under the crossbar, who made some excellent saves.
The match ended 1-1 draw. In the resultant tie-breaker, Raia Sporting scored through Aldon Colaco, Roy Colaco, Leran Dias, Garrison Fernandes and Jake Medeira, for Don Bosco Oratory, Roque Borges, Hanslem Furtado, Frazer Miranda and Ainsley Aruajo were on target.
Jake Medeira of Raia Sporting was given the man-of-the-match award and Alfred Noronha the best defender of the match award by Joao Agustinho Fernandes, former Salgoacar SC and Curtorim Gymkhana player and Antonio Almeida.
