Sporting Clube de Goa Outclass Cortalim Villagers 3-0 to Secure Dominant Win in Goa Professional League Clash

Sporting Clube de Goa’s Ngangbam Singh bagged the man-of-the-match award

MAPUSA: Sporting Clube de Goa registered a well-deserved 1-0 win over Cortalim Villagers Social Welfare Sports Club in the Goa Professional League match played at Duler Stadium, here, on Friday.
Flaming Oranje surged ahead in the very 6th minute of play when skipper Kunal Kundaikar found Ngangbam Singh ummarked who controlled and drove his 25-yard strike into the goal, 1-0.
Cortalim Villagers had two close chances to level terms. In the 30th minute, Airen Fernandes saw his power-packed strike being brilliantly saved by Sporting Clube’s custodian Abhimanyu Singh.
Another chance went a begging for Cortalim Villagers when they were awarded a penalty after Airen’s goal bound shot was handled by Sporting Clube’s Edwin Viegas prompting Referee Tejas Nagvenkar to point to the dreaded spot.
However, Airen’s shot was saved by Sporting Clube’s custodian Abhimanyu.
In the very fifth minute on crossing ends, substitute Rohan Rodrigues sent a cut back pass to Francisco Fernandes who drilled the ball into the goal 2-0.
Just 11 minutes later Flaming Oranje made the issue safe with Mark Carvalho netting the team’s third goal.
Francisco Fernandes sent a short pass to Ngangbam Singh inside the 18-yard box who set up the ball to Mark Carvalho who beat the onrushing Cortalim Villagers’ custodian Frevino Fernandes to make it 3-0.
