RAIA: St Anthony’s Sports Club, Assolda, moved past Fr Agnel Youth Sports Club, Paroda, 2-1, to clinch the 14th Our Lady of Fatima Cup organised by Dicarpale Sports Club at Dicarpale ground, on Sunday.
St Anthony SC’s Vitorino Fernandes netted both the goals in the 47th and 59th minute of play, while Fr Agnelo YSC pulled a goal back through Alister Menezes in the 60th minute.
The winners received a cash prize of Rs 70,000 and a trophy, while Fr Agnelo YSC had to be content with a purse of Rs 50,000 and a trophy.
Chief guest South Goa Member of Parliament Viriato Fernandes gave away the prizes in the presence of guest of honour Velim MLA Cruz Silva, South Goa District Congress President Savio D’Silva, National Vice-President of AAP Youth Wing and former sarpanch Aquem Baixo Siddhesh Bhagat, Our Lady of Fatima Church, Dicarpale, Parish Priest Fr Joaquim Fernandes, Mustak Shaikh, Manoj Duke, social worker Vallab Varak, Tenzil Gomes, sarpanch and panch members of Davorlim-Dicarpale Panchayat, Goa Football Association Executive Committee members (South), sisters of St Joseph of Tarbes, Dicarpale, other dignitaries and club officials.
