1st All Goa Jack Souza Ferrao (Freedom Fighter) Memorial Special Olympics Futsal Championship 2023 organised by Nosa Senhora de Rosa Mystica Association in collaboration with Special Olympics Bharat Goa and Gujarati Samaj Educational Trust Special School, Margao at Camp Souza multi sports facility, Camorlim-Raia, on Tuesday.

Sanjay Mighty Royals, Porvorim and Sanjay School, Curchorem, bagged the second and third place in Division A.
Sanjay School, Vasco, and Keshav Seva Sadhana, Bicholim, took second and third place respectively.
Commissioner of Persons with Disabilities Guru Pawaskar was the chief guest. Former India goalkeeper Padmashree Brahmanand Sankwalkar, Victor Vaz, National Director of Special Olympics Bharat Goa; Fr Franky Fernandes, OFM Capuchin; Mukesh Saglani, chairman, Gujarati Samaj Educational Trust Special School, Margao; Virendra Souza Ferrao, MD – Camp Souza; Ranjan Naik, manager, Gujarati Samaj Special School, Margao, were present on the occasion.
Pawaskar congratulated the organisers for the good initiative taken in organising such a competition for the special Students.
He also said that the Purple Fest International 2024, will feature Special Olympics Games for special athletes from various schools. He requested them to be prepared for the events.
60 special students from six teams of six Schools namely St Xavier’s Academy, Old Goa; Sanjay Mighty Royals, Porvorim; Gujarati Samaj Special School, Margao; Keshav Seva Sadhana, Bicholim; Sanjay School, Vasco and Sanjay School, Curchorem participated and performed to their best of their ability.
Collector and District Magistrate Aswin Chandru, IAS, South Goa, was the chief guest for the closing ceremony.
In his address, Chandru advised the students to spread love and affection through the sports events without worrying about winning and losing.
Fr Franky said he too was happy to see the best performance of today’s tournament and it was a grand success.
Victor Vaz and Fr Franky were felicitated by chief guest for their contribution in the field of sports. An unified futsal match with special students was also played on this occasion.
Fr Franky compered all the matches and Teacher Prashant Tari compered the closing ceremony while Ranjan Naik proposed a vote of thanks.
