Verna Sports Club recorded a fluent 4-1 win over Dicarpale Sports Club to march into the quarter-finals of Sao Jose de Areal Panchayat Cup football tournament organised by Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club at Padribhat ground, Sao Jose de Areal on Wednesday. Verna were leading 2-0 at half time.
Verna dominated the proceedings and virtually toyed with the rival weak defence.
Verna rocked the rival citadel in the 4th minute when Mathias Abranches fired home with a scorcher.
Verna kept on mounting pressure and doubled the lead in the 26th minute when Wilson Fernandes’ snap shot beat the rival goalkeeper all ends up.
The second session continued in the same vein with Verna enjoying the lion share of exchanges. Richard Dias struck twice in the 49th and 55th minutes.
Dicarpale scored a consolation goal in the 55th minute through Bruno Valles.
