Xetrapal SC beat Sodiem Siolim

MAPUSA: Xetrapal Sports Club, Oxel scored a fluent 3-1 win over Sodiem Siolim Sports Club in the GFA’s 2nd Division League match played at Duler stadium, Mapusa, on Friday.

MAPUSA: Xetrapal Sports Club, Oxel scored a fluent 3-1 win over Sodiem Siolim Sports Club in the GFA’s 2nd Division League match played at Duler stadium, Mapusa, on Friday.
At halftime Xetrapal led by a 2-0 margin.
The winners broke the deadlock in the 20th minute of play when Dikshay Ram Sarap on entering the 18-yard box beat the Sodiem custodian with a deft placement.
Four minutes before the halftime whistle Bradley Lobo doubled the lead for Xetrapal when his hot blooded shot found no answer from keeper Salil Chari, 2-0.
Changing ends, Sodiem almost reduced the margin but Maruti Harijan’s goal bound effort was brilliantly cleared away by defender Claudio Rodrigues.
Minutes later Sodiem keeper Salil came with a fine save to deny Vishesh Sawant from scoring.
After some midfield action Xetrapal once again found the back of the nets through Sangam Pednekar who gave finishing touches to Bradley Lobo’s pass, 3-0.
In the final five minutes of play  Sodiem managed to pull a goal back when Aniket Agarwadekar set up Maruti Harijan who seeing the keeper off his line lobbed the ball into the empty nets, 1-3.
At Poriat ground, St Savio’s SC Calangute squeezed past Saligao Sporting Club a 1-0 margin.
Saligao keeper Marshal Fernandes came with a brilliant save in the 30th minute of play to deny Joston Pereira from giving St. Savio the lead. 
On resumption of play Aaron D’Silva saw his powerful right footer bang the Saligao woodwork and bounce back into play.
St Savio finally managed to score the all important goal in the injury minutes of the match when Joseph Pereira curled his corner kick into the back of the Saligao nets, 1-0.
