A major fire broke out at a scrap yard in Ashewada-Betoda during the early hours of the morning, triggering panic in the surrounding area as thick plumes of smoke engulfed the vicinity.
Upon receiving information, fire and emergency services teams from Ponda, Kundaim and Margao rushed to the spot to contain the blaze. Firefighters battled the flames for several hours before successfully bringing the situation under control.
Residents in the area reported heavy smoke spreading across nearby localities, raising concerns over safety and air quality. However, no injuries have been reported so far.
