United Club Telaulim register first win

Beat Holy Cross Arambol 2-1; Salgaocar Juniors hold ICSC Paroda 1-1

MAPUSA/ PANJIM: United Club Telaulim scored a hard fought 2-1 victory over Holy Cross Arambol 2-1 to register their first win in the GFA’s First Division League match played at Duler Stadium, here on Wednesday.
Telaulim now stand with four points while HC Arambol are on just one point.
At halftime both sides were tied at 1-1.
In the 7th minute, Telaulim shot into the lead when Chadwick Furtado sent the ball to Beneston Barretto who charged into the rival citadel before scoring through a powerful right footer, 1-0.
Couple of minutes into the match Telaulim almost doubled their lead when Agnelo Colaco made a threatening run into the Arambol camp only to see his blistering shot sail just over the woodwork.
Arambol got their acts together and stepped up the pressure, where first Simon Fernandes’s low strike was kept away by the diving Telaulim keeper Ozen Silva and then Shashank Ashvekar was unlucky not to have converted twice from dead ball situations.
In the injury minutes of the first half Arambol managed to restore parity when Anant Gad positioned himself perfectly to slot in the ball from inside the Telaulim goal area, 1-1.
Changing ends, Anant Gad almost netted in his brace, however Ozen Silva did well to get his hands to the ball.
Telaulim managed score the match winning goal in the 70th minute of play through a fine solo effort by Chadwick Furtado, 2-1.
In another match at Ambelim ground, ICSC Paroda and Salgaocar Juniors played out a 1-1 draw.
ICSC Paroda put up a strong display against a spirited young Salgaocar lads and took the lead in the 32nd minute through 
Elloy Soares. ICSC led 1-0 at the break.
Crossing over, Salgaocar pressed hard in search of the equaliser and finally managed to draw level in the 90+1 minute through Samuel Costa.
