DABOLIM: SAI hostel edged past Dempo Juniors, 1-0, in a GFA’s U-18 First Division football league match at the TB Cunha sports complex on Sunday.
A late injury time goal from Daniel Sores from a direct free-kick ensured three points for SAI against the mighty blues.
Dempo started the match with Paras and Joel upfront who were a constant treat for the SAI defence but the SAI defence stood tall to deny Paras and Joel on a couple of occasions.
With no real action in the first half, SAI were determined to score, and post resumption Daniel worked hard to break the blues defence. At the other end Dempo had another glorious chance to put the team ahead when Jason fed Paras with his deadly cross but the later opted to hit wide with no player at his mercy.
Dempo had to pay for their earlier misses with SAI scoring the match winner in injury time of the second period through Daniel off a direct free kick as his effort gave no chance to the rival keeper.
