MARGAO: Devotees of Lord Damodar made a presentation on Thursday at the Damodar Ling Temple, Fatorda, where they put forward reasons why the Fatorda Ravindra Bhavan Circle that is in close proximity to the temple should be named as ‘Dambab Circle’ or Shree Damodar’ Circle’.
The delegation, consisting of people from Fatorda and nearby areas then submitted a memorandum to Margao Municipal Council (MMC) Chairperson and Chief Officer. They also submitted a memorandum to Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai.

Speaking on behalf of ‘Dambabache Bhakt Fatorda’, Dilip Nayak and others highlighted how it would be of great importance to the community if the circle is named after Lord Damodar. While pointing out that other traffic circles have already been given names, they said that before anyone else claims or wants to put a name for the Ravindra Bhavan Circle, it should rightly be named as either ‘Dambab Circle’ or Shree Damodar Circle’.
Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai, who addressed the media after receiving the memorandum agreed to their demands wholeheartedly and said he would take up this issue and advice MMC to do as had been requested. He added that the religious leaders from Zambaulim could be consulted over what needs to be done before the circle is named after Lord Damodar such as offering prayers etc. The MLA also paid his respects to Lord Damodar and echoed the sentiments expressed by ‘Dambabache Bhakt Fatorda’.
