MARGAO: the Forum for Rights of Children in Education (FORCE) claimed that the government has been threatening parents and has warned of a backlash.
“Government is threatening parents and we warn that if they continue they will be responsible for the law and order situation in the State,” FORCE Convenor Savio Lopes said.
“Police are calling and telling us of filing complaints against us. Police have come to my place and have also filed complaints against parents in Bicholim,” Lopes alleged. “After presenting memorandums, we do not trust any MLAs, ministers or the government on their promises and we demand that the government stop intimidating parents through law enforcing agencies,” FORCE demanded on Wednesday.
Claiming that misinformation is being spread that FORCE is out to finish the language and culture of Goa, the forum challenged the government to close all private and government English school operations, sarcastically adding that,
“If BBSM demands the closure on the same lines we may as well support them in that.”
Lopes said, “The Chief Minister had committed that the bill will be passed in next session. Do we have a reason to believe in this government now? None of the MLAs have given positive support to us leaving no reason for us to believe any of them.”
FORCE also alleged that the government is doing this to keep the Bahujan Samaj down and that the children of politicians go to English schools and they themselves run English schools.
