VIRABHAT-CURTORIM: Camarxet blanked Corjem 4-0 to move into the next round of the 5th Jose and Franky Memorial inter-ward football tournament organised by Sporting Club of Virabhat (Curtorim), at St Alex Church ground, Curtorim, on Monday.
Camarxet got an early chance in the 15th minute to take the lead but striker Brian Fernandes hit the Corjem crossbar and went out of play. Soon after Corjem’s Xavier’s power-packed shot was well saved by the Camarxet keeper.
In second half, Camarxet took the lead through Marcus Fernandes’ placement shot after a fine cross by Caitan Viegas in the 35th minute.
As the match progressed, in the 41st minute, Camarxet scored three more goals in quick succession through Domingo Castanha, Brian Fernandes and Versley Paes in the 46th, 48th and 50th minutes respectively to take the final score to 4-0.
Camarxet will now meet the winners of Batora and St Anthony in the next round on June 16.
